Booking, payment & cancellation

Why book directly with the hotel?

Book directly for 2 or more nights and your first breakfast is free, as published by the hotel — a thank-you for booking direct. The hotel also promotes exclusive deals for direct bookings.

How do I make a reservation?

Check live availability and book in the online booking engine. Questions first? Message us on WhatsApp (+506 8345-1516) or email info@villasjacquelina.com.

Are the prices on this site final?

No. Room prices here are “from” rates as last published by the hotel, a rough guide only. Rates change with dates and season, and the published prices don’t say whether tax is included. The booking engine shows the live rate and total for your dates.

How can I pay?

Cash, SINPE Móvil, or Visa, Mastercard and Credix cards. Card payments carry a 3% card fee. A credit card secures the booking (no deposit is taken), and any unpaid balance is settled at check-in.

What is the cancellation policy?

On the free-cancellation rate, you can cancel at no cost until 72 hours before check-in. After that, the full reservation is non-refundable, and no-shows or late changes are charged in full to the card on file.

Holiday dates and large bookings have stricter rules (see below).

Is it different over the holidays?

Yes. If any night of your stay falls in holiday dates, the whole booking can’t be cancelled or changed within 14 days of check-in.

  • Christmas: December 22 – January 2
  • Semana Santa: dates change every year — ask us
  • Independence: September 15–20
What about large bookings?

Bookings over $1,000 or taking 30% or more of the hotel follow the group policy: a 30% non-refundable deposit at booking. The dedicated group page says the balance is due, and the booking becomes non-refundable, 90 days before arrival, while the home page mentions 30 days. Please confirm the terms with us in writing.

I booked on Booking.com, Airbnb or Expedia. Which policy applies?

The cancellation policy of the site you booked on. Check the confirmation they sent you.

During your stay

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in from 2 PM, check-out by 11 AM. Reception and on-site staff are there daily from 7 AM to 10 PM.

What if I arrive after 10 PM?

The hotel doesn’t publish a late-arrival process, so please message us on WhatsApp with your expected arrival time before you travel, and we’ll tell you how check-in will work.

Which rooms have a private bathroom?

Shared bathroom: Villa Sol and Villa Escondido are private bedrooms that share a bathroom with one other room.

Private bathroom: Villa Linda, Villa Luna, Birds Nest, Villa Fresca, Villa Vista and El Palomar (an open-air outdoor bathroom). Villa Rosa is two rooms sharing one private bathroom, and Villa Familia has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Which rooms have air conditioning?

Fan only: Villa Sol, Villa Escondido, Villa Rosa and the open-air El Palomar, which has mosquito nets over the beds.

Need a kitchen too? Villa Luna, Villa Vista, Birds Nest and El Palomar have their own; the other rooms share the guest kitchens.

Is there Wi-Fi? Can I work remotely?

Can I cook?

Yes. Guests share two fully equipped kitchens with pots, pans, a gas stovetop, large fridges and compost bins. The hotel’s 2022 kitchen rules, as published:

  • Kitchen hours 6 AM–10 PM; the downstairs kitchen is used for breakfast from 7 to 9 AM
  • Label your food (tape and marker are by the fridge)
  • Wash your dishes straight away — ants are quick here
  • Organic scraps go in the compost
Do you provide beach towels?

No. We don’t provide beach towels, and bath towels can’t be taken off site. Pack your own for the beach.

Is there laundry service?

Yes, there’s a wash-and-fold laundry service. For groups it’s published at $14 + tax per load; individual guests, please ask reception for the current price.

Can I drink the tap water?

Yes. In the hotel’s words, Quepos has safe drinking water from the tap, and no guest has ever got sick from it. Bring a refillable bottle.

Are there quiet hours?

There’s no formal quiet-hours policy published. The hotel’s 2022 house guide had the terraces open from 5 AM to 10 PM and pool quiet hours from 10 to 11 PM, and guests have described evenings settling down after 10 PM. It’s a shared, open-air building, so a little consideration goes a long way.

Can I smoke at the hotel?

No. Smoking isn’t allowed on the hotel premises, as published in the 2022 house rules (which pointed smokers to the parking area downstairs). Ask reception for the current rule.

Families, kids & pets

Can I bring my pet?

Sorry, we don’t accept pets.

Accessibility

Is the hotel accessible?

The hotel hasn’t published an accessibility statement. It’s a multi-level, treehouse-style building with stairs, including a spiral staircase, terraces on upper levels and a rooftop apartment. No elevator is mentioned. If you have mobility needs, please talk to us before booking.

Is there a room without stairs?

According to the booking engine, Room 3 of Villa Escondido (two twin beds, shared bathroom) is on the lower level and suits guests who want to avoid stairs. Ask us to confirm the room and the route to shared spaces before you book.

Breakfast & food

Is breakfast available?

Yes. Home-made breakfast is served daily from 7:30 to 9:00 AM on the terrace. The menu rotates and always includes coffee, fresh fruit and a vegan option. Please sign up in advance.

On request, the hotel has offered a grab-and-go option from 6:45 AM: a vegan granola bowl or a bagel with cream cheese. Ask the day before.

Is there a restaurant?

No, there’s no restaurant service. Beyond breakfast, guests cook in the shared kitchens (or their own, in the apartments) or eat out in Quepos, about 10 minutes’ walk away. In 2022 the hotel also kept a small honour-system shelf of snacks and drinks across from reception.

Can I book a massage?

The hotel has offered a river-stone massage: stretching, a hot-stone oil massage and a cold-stone finish, with a mountain view. A 2022 article listed it at $70. Ask at reception or on WhatsApp whether it’s available and at what price.
